There was this guy today, wearing the transparent Club Marc jacket that I wanted to buy, but in white; shrieking and cat walking through the canteen, stopping at the drinks stall. You could see the heads all turning to look at him as he did his little parade across the stall fronts. He said Hi to my friend who he completely does not know, chatted him up a bit and then left.

I think I’ve lost the passion.

Many PC makers are content to source all their components from one vendor, and Intel is obviously happy to bundle all of its components together under a brand name that suggests to consumers that “Centrino” is a feature they need. However, Apple has historically always selected the best parts available for its desired design goals. Last year, that meant skipping Intel’s WiFi chip. In the year since, Apple has been plagued with reports of problems related to MacBook graphics, forcing the company to rethink its use of Intel’s relatively uninspiring integrated graphics options.

Add in the fact that NVIDIA could offer a replacement northbridge/southbridge controller in one chip combined with far better integrated graphics performance, and it’s no wonder why Apple dropped Intel’s 2008 Montevina Centrino platform entirely for its new generation of MacBooks.

I’m angry.

The new Macbook is everything I wanted when I decided to switch a few years back.

The new MacBook is really a 13″ MacBook Pro. It uses the same design, and same manufacturing quality. Bridging the gap between consumer and professional model.

Weighing at 2kg, it’s light, thanks to the new aluminum unibody build. Even my current Macbook Pro weighs 0.5kg more and trust me, 500g makes a lot of a difference.

One of the reasons why I initially went with a Macbook is because of its size, I’d much rather have a 13″ than a 15″ because to me, a portable is exactly what it is: it’s a portable. I want to be able to carry it around without it adding a lot to the total weight I have to carry.

Also because of the fact that I want to carry it around everywhere, it’s bound to take a lot of punishment and abuse to the frame. My MBP has held up really, really well, I think if I didn’t throw in the original plastic Macbook I had for a MBP, there would have been severe cracks and everything by now. Actually it’s a miracle my MBP has survived thus far without any damage to its frame and body. I keep it in my backpack and it gets thrown around a lot. I used to fall on my back with the backpack, essentially crushing it.

Another reason why I upgraded to a MBP is because I couldn’t put up with the mediocre graphics performance any longer.

The new unibody takes care of weight issue, and the durability issue. The fact that the Macbook has a GeForce 9400 in it takes care of the graphic performance issue as well.

Ugh, if only I waited two years.

I’m still sorta sad I didn’t get to see Avril Lavigne when she was here last month.

“He is a difficult child you know.” I was somewhat surprised as I heard this. “Tantrums and such. It doesn’t seem that way right? He’s only passive around me.”

Not just you, the thought runs through my head. It’s around everyone else I’ve seen him around with, the crowd. The defiant character in him emerges only when he’s behind the safety of not being physically present. I saw a mirror image of myself, a younger me, in him. Which I suspect was what made me go out of my way to reach out to him even though it really wasn’t appropriate for me to do so.

I shan’t forget that fateful night of when those mean words were first spoken. Aren’t you humiliated? Those horrible denims, and those shoes.

Of those days where the both of us would be so broke, we’d talk over a mug of teh o halia in a run down coffee stall opposite Habourfront. Those were good times to be remembered.

I shaved my legs (and did my arms while I was at it). Soooo smooth and nice skin revealed but I’m not sure how I feel about it.

Woofing down two packets of Koka (original stir fry) instant noodles in the dead of the night has become a routine. Yes Koka, the as advertised no MSG instacrap.

But right now all I can think of is buying those pretty clothes. Collage has shorts arranged according to length, how freaking awesome is that?

Sometimes I forget how beautiful my Macbook Pro is. It reminds me of how everything revolves around how beautiful something is. Would I have bought one of them PC laptops instead of the MBP? Maybe, if everything else within it outshines that of the MBP, but then again deep down inside I would have wished I had bought the MBP instead just because it is pretty. The same goes for men.

So what happens when you are manufactured as one of them boring, bland and plain ugly beige boxes? You’re just, doomed… like, sorry, it’s just how life works.
